I got a pair of ribbon mics a few months ago, back in December I think. Other than that, I'm done spending until something breaks! Andy

It's been a quite year for me so far (though the thought of new gear is always there!!), though I did buy a second valve junior amp - but that doesn't really count- does it?? In fact I'm getting rid of gear!! OF course that's so I can make room for more! So if anyone is interested in a Yamaha APX-6A, let me know: I'll give you a good price.

A very Honest Col:)

PS Spiral, really like the project!

Actually, I am about to build a new computer for recording. Someone very kindly gave me a new skt775 board, and it so happened I had a 3.2GHz CPU waiting for a mobo... That will replace the one I did use for recording which OH now has as his laptop got pinched - but when I'm going to get round to it I don't know :(

I always get myself something for my birthday which is almost a month past... once I get up Guitar Center (and probably get my charge limit increased first...) I am leaning towards a nice http://line6.com/pod/ (wish the XT Pro rack-mount had foot switches for stage, might have to look into that...)

I got the Lexicon Omega Audio 4 channel interface, but so far I havent been able to get it to work. It came with Cubase LE 4, but I havent used it except to tinker with. I also got a Shure 53 mic for 10 bucks. That was a great find.

In the last couple months I've bought a new bass and a new semi hollow guitar, both Ibanez. They were a steal around 200 each and I'm very happy with both so far.

I just got past a major bout of G. A. S. earlier this month. I picked up the Valve junior head and cab, and ART TPS 2 mic preamp, and a Marshall 990 large diaphragm condenser mic. I anticipate another case of G. A. S. coming on in about 3 or 4 months...

bonefish,

i've had my C2's for some time now. I've used them on my acoustic, and a few other things that worked out nicely. They seem to like small rooms and narrow hallways really well!

Bgamm,

Recently bought the pocket pod which was...OK. The sounds weren't bad, but they cut too many corners (in order to keep the price down I'm sure) and it's too fiddly. I wish I had held out as the pod 2.0 was on offer the next week for just 20 more!! It seems a lot easier to adjust/program etc. Found this link, if you ever feel brave enough to try it!

Scary!!

I looked at that Colin and youre right... scary... (and not worth the effort...) and I dont really want the small Pods - need the floor-switches like my old Korg A-4 (that I have mounted on a good music stand right next to my rack...)

Could also suggest looking into m-audio's blackbox as an alternative: both jdrptone and myself are converts. The line six has better presets to my ears, but the BB has drum machine and recording capabilities. I've gigged the BB and it sounds good live.

I have an old 1202 that I bought around 1991. It looks just like the picture. Served me faithfully for years. Now the volume knobs are dusty and I took the board in to be cleaned. Bad news, the pots are sealed and cant be cleaned. whenever the knobs are turned there is real loud annoying static. It still works but dont adjust the volume! I still have the mixer and use it when my new mixer is full.

The Mackie has a very clean pure sound. Its a quiet mixer that has a real high output. highly recommend it or any Mackie mixer or amps and speakers.

I bought the Behringer xenyx2222fx as a replacement and it has a lot more features but not quite as clean and pure of a signal. If I had the money I would rather have a Mackie but they are too expensive. My old Mackie lasted me for 16 yrs with no problems and still works great. The volume pots make static when they are turned up or down but in applications where you set the knob and dont adjust it any it still works fine. I sometimes sub mix my drums in the 1202 and then send that into a stereo channel on my xenyx.

I've got the Mackie 1202 VLZ. Is that the same? I can't keep up! I got a deal on it since they're now up to the VLZ3 series. Great little boards though. I use mine for tracking with its 4 preamps as well as controlling my monitor and headphone levels. Andy

the VLZ is a newer make of the same board. The one in the picture is called a "Mackie Micro Series 1202".

Cool Vid Spiral. I saw the comment in Finish from "Miika". Reminded me of my Fin buddy that came to Kansas as an exchange student over 20 yrs ago. His name was Miika Siimes. I also had 2 other fin buddies named Kiimo Vikare, and Pasii Piltonen. Why is it that most Fin names have 2 syllables in the first name and 3 syllables in the last name? Is this the case with your name also? Kind of cool. I always notice this during the winter olympics. The best ski jumpers are from Finland and they almost always have a first name with 2 syllables and a last name with 3 syllables.

No new gear for me to report, just the same old gear. Here is the rig I have been recording with lately. Maybe I can lay some drums on a Spiral track with these someday. Send me an MP3 mix of one of your songs with no drums and let me do my magic!

OMG!

I'd love to collaborate with you on drums!!!
Maybe you could lay down some rocking rhythms (basic song structure, intor, verse, bridge, chorus, verse, bridge... somethin glike that), and I would see what I could come up with? It would be so cool to play "with" someone else than Fruity Loops! :D

I'll write about those names later....:D Just wanted to say that I'd love to see what we could come up with together!

Let me see.

My last name, 3 syllables.
I have 2 syllables in my first name. three of my brothers have too.
2 of my brothers have 3 syllables... So I guess 2 is more common! :)
(Oh yeah, there's six of us brothers, in case you got lost with all the numbers.)

Oh, it's such a small world nowdays, isn't it?
I love it! I love this age of internet! :D
