Clicking?

I'm new to recording. I got clicking on my audio

I've set up to record one channel through a one channel MAudio fasttrack usb (external) and a second channel through a old Creative sound blaster Audigy sound card (built in).

ASIO buffer latency is set to its highest 500ms (creative ASIO). Moving this down speeds the clicking up.

I don't think its the use of two different input devices as the clicking is the same on both. Although they do record out of sync and I have to move the wave recordings to match them up.

I need to get rid of the clicking though.

Any advice?

I'll try update drivers next.

The machine is a old Dell Dimension 5150, 4GB RAM, Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz, runing XP.

hiya johnny, not sure about this. It sounds like your system might not be coping although you have the latency set high.
You could try not using ASIO during mixing / playback. I used to record with ASIO and switch to MME for mixing when latency doesn't matter. It seems a bit easier on the system.
Just some thoughts. Let us know how you go.
Cheers,
Bob
